Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra to Give Five Concerts at Müpa
The Pécs-based Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra (PFZ) has once again announced its traditional Budapest season ticket season, which includes five Müpa (Address: Budapest, Komor Marcell u. 1, 1095) concerts, the ensemble informed MTI on Friday.
In their statement, they reminded that the ensemble is continuing a tradition that has been going on for more than two decades with the series entitled All-in, which starts this September and ends next May.
The ensemble, working under the professional direction of principal conductor Gergely Kesselyák, is once again welcoming its capital audience with popular and excellent soloists and conductors.
At the opening concert of the Pannon season ticket, which consists of five Friday evening concerts, at the end of September, Mediterranean holidays, Italian and Spanish tales, fair comedies, opera dramas and situations will come to life in the language of music.
The concert entitled Fabula foletta (funny tale) will feature Ravel's Alborada del gracioso, Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major performed by Fabian Müller, and suites from Casella's fairy tale opera La donna serpente and de Falla's ballet The Three-cornered Hat. The evening's conductor will be the Spanish conductor Roberto Forés Veses, who excels in orchestral construction.
In November, Tibor Bogányi, the first permanent guest conductor of the PFZ, will conduct works in the key of E minor, full of emotions, nostalgia, melancholy, but also hope, at the concert entitled From Dusk to Dawn. In the first half of the evening, Elgar's Violin Concerto will be played by the Armenian legend Narek Hakhnazaryan, and in the second part, Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2 will be performed.
The series will continue with Gergely Kesselyák's concert at the end of January. In the concert entitled "Meditation and Fever", between Berlioz's "Meditation of the Afternoon of a Faun" and the feverish music of Debussy's "Symphony Fantastic", the audience will get to know a new side of Alban Berg in "Seven Early Songs".
Next March, Varga Gilbert will conduct the musicians, who will perform works by Sibelius and Bartók. The audience will enjoy Sibelius' Violin Concerto performed by Barnabás Kelemen, while Bartók's version of The Carved Prince Suite will be heard.
At the May season closing concert, the audience will witness a multiple role reversal: the concertmaster of the PFZ, Zoltán Bánfalvi, will introduce himself as a composer, whose Shostakovich-inspired cello concerto will be played as a soloist by the orchestra's former chief conductor Tibor Bogányi, while Gergely Kesselyák will close the series at the conductor's desk with Shostakovich's VII. with his symphony.
The announcement mentioned that children aged 6-18 with their parents can attend Pannon season tickets for free with the unchanged price, and in the spirit of sustainability, the PFZ will allocate one percent of its revenue from each season ticket sale to tree planting in the coming season.
