A record number of participants are expected in November at Hungary's first Vegan Summit in Budapest.
For the first time, an international vegan summit will be held in Hungary. The Vegan Summit Budapest will be held on November 22. The program focuses on sustainability, health and a conscious lifestyle. The event will feature lectures, an award ceremony, gastronomic experiences and an exhibition of more than twenty well-known brands. According to main organizer Enikő Tóth, the Summit is a gap-filling initiative that breaks down stereotypes surrounding the vegan lifestyle.
For the first time this year, a large-scale vegan summit will be held in Hungary, which stands out from similar events on the continent in terms of both size and professional program. The Vegan Summit Budapest will be held on November 22 at the Europa Event Center in Budapest, and interest is already huge, with thousands of people expected. The event aims to demonstrate that a plant-based lifestyle is not just a vegan issue, but a key to a healthier, more sustainable future.
The organizers chose this date for a reason: November is World Vegan Month, which has been celebrated worldwide since 1994. The main message of the event is that awareness, responsible consumption and sustainability are not exclusive to the vegan community.
Vegan Summit: 40% of participants are meat eaters
Based on feedback from interested parties, nearly 40 percent of participants are not vegans, but flexitarians or active meat eaters.
“We believe it is important that there is an occasion in Hungary where sustainability, health and empathy for animals are simultaneously in the spotlight, where everyone can feel good, regardless of their lifestyle,” said Vida Raul, the event’s professional manager and ambassador.
The summit aims to provide a platform for different perspectives, whether it is dietetics, sustainability or economic responsibility. The presentations will cover topics of public interest such as the role of diet in climate change, gut health, nutrition adapted to the female cycle, as well as the impact of animal protection and our personal example on the everyday decisions of those living in our environment.
Well-known personalities and companies also stand up for sustainability
An awards ceremony will also take place during the day, where the work of citizens and companies who have done a lot for sustainability and animal protection in the past year will be recognized. Awards will be presented in a total of seven categories, including Vegan Athlete of the Year, Vegan Gastronomy Face of the Year, Vegan Product of the Year and Green Progress of the Year.
The jury includes Zsófia Szilágyi, WWF’s Corporate Relations Manager, Gergely Litkai, Artistic Director of Dumaszínház, Zombor Berezvai, Associate Professor at Corvinus University, Bence Töreky, Wise Product Lead, and Raul Vida.
The program will feature several well-known personalities who will speak about the importance of health, environmental protection, and ethical lifestyles through their own experiences. Several well-known brands have also joined the event. You can also find product presentations, tastings, prize games, and special offers at the stands.
The Vegan Summit will support the Pig Protection Foundation with 500 forints for each ticket sold, which deals with the adoption of rescued dwarf piglets.
