Among others, Twenty One Pilots, Florence + The Machine, SOMBR and Lewis Capaldi will perform at next year's Sziget festival, which will be held from August 11 to 15, 2026.
The program at Sziget, which is back in Hungarian hands, is getting more colorful, the range of genres is expanding, and they want to address wider groups in terms of both taste and age. Although the organizers have been delayed a lot with booking the bands for known reasons, they still have about forty names in the bag - according to the announcement sent to MTI on Tuesday.
"It seems that we have managed to catch up. We were a little afraid that during the forced shutdown, they would lure away those performers with whom negotiations had already begun, but it seems that Sziget is still such an important place for them that many of them reserved the date they had written in pencil for us" - the communiqué quoted Károly Gerendai, the old-new owner of Sziget, as saying.
The founder said that their long-term goal is that in addition to the strong musical lineup, the diversity of non-musical programs, the unique visual environment and the quality services that enhance the holiday experience will also attract visitors here. "We were able to stand out from a small country in the particularly strong international festival scene by not offering the usual model, but by being different, more colorful and more experience-rich than the others. We would like to reaffirm this".
Sziget 2026 performers: real stars already in the line-up
Among the first star performers announced, Twenty One Pilots stands out, who will return to the festival's main stage and will also present their new material. The list includes Florence + The Machine, who last performed at Sziget in 2023, to great interest. In October this year - after three years - the group released their sixth studio album, which was enthusiastically received by the international critical industry. The group will perform as a headline act at almost every major festival next summer. One of this year's great discoveries, SOMBR, is also coming to Sziget. The singer was nominated for next year's Grammy Awards for his first album. Lewis Capaldi, who stopped performing for a while due to illness, is returning to the Óbuda festival after four years.
Tomora is coming, a new musical project, a collaboration between Tom Rowlands (Chemical Brothers) and Norwegian singer Aurora. Also performing will be Dijon, the American singer-songwriter, record producer, actor and multi-instrumentalist who also contributed to Justin Bieber's latest album. Underworld played the Sziget main stage with great success twenty years ago: the formation known for its anthemic hits has been shaping the world of electronic music for decades. One of the most famous Scottish rock bands, Biffy Clyro, will also be making a big comeback.
The list of forty also includes, for example, Tash Sultana, Ashnikko, bbno$ or Paris Paloma, and among the Hungarian performers, Sisi, Elefánt and makrohang.
What will Sziget Festival be like in 2026?
"In recent years, the festival has been criticized several times for the fact that, alongside the strong international star lineup, less emphasis was placed on popular domestic performers, so next year, in cooperation with Budapest Park, there will be a separate Hungarian stage at Sziget, with the biggest favorites," said Tamás Kádár, the main organizer of Sziget.
Although the face of next year's Sziget is still being shaped, a definite goal is to broaden the age range of visitors and make the cultural offering even more colorful. In addition to thematic quarters - such as the successful electronic music center - the number of thematic program venues will continue to expand, and musical genres such as rock or world music will once again play a more prominent role in the already proven stage offerings. Old, previously popular venues will probably return, but new ones will also appear.
