The Recirquel Company's new production brings a Roman mythological world to life. The gigantic production can be seen in Budapest, at Millenáris, from November 5.

The Recirquel Company offers the audience a cinematic experience from November 5 in Budapest, at Millenáris Park; the immersive theater production titled Walk My World awaits the audience in a mythical world of six thousand square meters, reminiscent of film sets, where gods, heroes and strange creatures await the audience. The mythological story comes to life in the language of new circus and dance.

Artistic director Bence Vági, the writer-director-choreographer of the play, said at the press conference for the performance on Tuesday in Budapest: the production brings to life the story of Virgil's epic, the love tragedy of Aeneas and Dido. A Roman mythological world was created in the industrial space of Millenáris, fitting in with it.

He said: after five years of preparation, construction and rehearsals began eight months ago, and the performance is the work of almost 150 creative artists. There are forty installation spaces in the hall, which contain a lot of carefully selected objects and small details, as an addition to the lives and stories of the characters. The objects were selected from the period from the 1920s to the 1970s.

He highlighted: the 25 characters of the play are personified by 32 artists-dancers-actors, who were selected from 900 applicants. The artists coming from four continents are on stage throughout the 2 hour and 30 minute show. The performance features 220 scenes, and they created about 22 hours of choreography, he added.

As he said, the performance, which combines new circus with contemporary dance, guides the viewer into a dream world, where if they follow a character, they can reach places in space that they would not find on their own, and they can see the story from the character's perspective. There are also scenes in the gigantic production that only one person will see, that only happen to them. This way, every viewer can leave with a slightly different story, he added.

The viewers wear masks, and they are the directors

Bence Vági said: he encourages viewers to visit the space alone, since the viewer is the director himself, and it is worth everyone discovering the performance for themselves, getting to know the multi-threaded story following their own interests. The experience of invisible observation is enhanced by the fact that viewers wear masks during the performance, so they can move more boldly between the sets. He highlighted that they have created an immersive theatre production, the likes of which have only been seen in the world's leading art centres, London or New York.

In the performance space, forty furnished rooms await exploration, including a fifteen-metre-high battlefield, a marketplace featuring twenty-five market carts and a stall converted from a military camper, a mystical labyrinth, sanctuaries of gods and homes of mortals, as well as a military bunker, a medical room, a chemical laboratory, a perfume cart and a bar, among others. The spectator can freely enter the spaces and even touch the personal belongings of the gods Cupid, Juno or Mercury, which tell further stories - the play's description states.

Unique props, 20 different circus genres

As they write, the production also includes a number of custom-made props and set elements, including a multi-metre-long robot that collaborates with the artists, or a bed and table that rise from the ground.

The performance features more than twenty different circus genres, including several rare acts that require special technical knowledge. The production also features Russian swings, bows, solo and duo girts, rope, Chinese pole, ladder and juggling acts that send the artists flying ten meters high, as well as numerous genres based on uniquely developed circus props.

The production was presented at the press conference by the members of the creative team, co-writer and concept artist Nándor Holp, composer Edina Mókus Szirtes and movement director and rehearsal director Zita Horváth. Walk My World can be seen five times a week as a permanent performance in the Millenáris Great Hall.
