Demonstrations of handicrafts, dance and folk music await those interested on May 24 and 25 at the Pentecost Heritage Festival event at the Szentendre Open-Air Museum of Ethnography.
At the Pentecost Heritage Festival in the Szentendre Open-Air Museum (Skanzen), traditional groups, performers and artists from different parts of the country will present their culture and involve visitors in the programs. As a special highlight of the event, artists representing Spanish traditions will present flamenco dance, Cordoba-style floral courtyard decoration and Mediterranean food culture - the institution told MTI.
The programs include interactive workshops, handicraft demonstrations, concerts, folk music and dance performances, the Kalocsa Tradition Preservation Association will present the customs of bride proposal, and Erdőbénye Kádártán and puppet theater performances will be shown.
In the South Transdanubia region, the Rajkó band, the Zselic dance group, the Matyó Folk Dance Group and the ProLet Bulgarian folk dance group will take the stage, in the Great Hungarian Mezőváros region, ethnographer Imre Harangozó will give a lecture entitled Pentecost in Békés County, a photo exhibition will present 50 years of the dance house movement, and visitors can learn about the traditions of Hungarian blue painting from the blue painter János Sárdi of Nagynyárád.
The West Transdanubia region will host, among other things, disc playing, a jug exhibition, miller's cake making and a Swabian folk costume demonstration in Solymar, while in the Small Hungarian region, visitors can learn about the traditions of Pentecost church decoration in Mende and Serbian gold embroidery in Deszk, among other things.
This year's event, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Hungary's accession to the Convention on the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, pays special attention to cultural diversity, community experiences, and traditions connecting different generations and cultures.
