The Autumn Concert Series at JazzFest Budapest Celebrates Miles Davis

2025.09.02

Taking place between 26 October and 17 November, the JazzFest Budapest autumn concert series will celebrate the life and work of Miles Davis, with performances by Marcus Miller, Bill Evans, Kenny Garrett and Keyon Harrold.

One of the most influential figures in jazz, Davis was a jazz trumpeter, bandleader and composer. He would have turned 100 in 2026, and JazzFest Budapest will begin its centenary concert series this autumn.

Influential contemporary jazz artists, all of whom are world stars in their own right and closely linked to Davis's work, will pay tribute to him. The organisers told MTI that the tribute will feature artists who have been greatly influenced by Davis's work.

Important creative partners commemorate Miles Davis in Budapest

On 26 October, bassist, composer and producer Marcus Miller, one of Davis's most important creative partners in the 1980s, will perform at the Erkel Theatre.

Miller wrote and arranged the songs on the legendary Tutu album, one of the most defining jazz albums of the era. Keyon Harrold will perform at the Eiffel Art Studios on 28 October. He is one of the most exciting artists in contemporary jazz and first came to international attention as the trumpeter in the Grammy-winning Don Cheadle film Miles Ahead, as well as with his critically acclaimed album The Musician.

On 30 October, saxophonist Bill Evans will perform at the Eiffel Art Studios with Dave Weckl, Steve Weingart and Jimmy Earl. Evans was a key figure in Davis's comeback in the 1980s.

On 17 November, the audience can enjoy a performance by saxophonist Kenny Garrett at the Eiffel Art Studios. The American musician has a unique tone and style and became a world star in Miles Davis's band.

The JazzFest Budapest concert series is a tribute to Miles Davis, and the performances are living proof that his legacy lives on, inspiring future generations and paving the way for the future of jazz.
