Eric Clapton is preparing for his second Budapest concert after twenty years. The legendary British guitarist-singer will perform at the MVM Dome on May 2, 2026.
The multiple Grammy Award-winning musician, one of the most influential guitarists of all time, has only played in the Hungarian capital once in his sixty-year career, in 2006 at the Papp László Budapest Sport Arena. He will return next spring as part of his European tour announced on Monday, organizer Live Nation told MTI on Monday.
A remastered album and new European concert dates announced
It has also just been revealed that a remastered version of Clapton's 1989 album Journeyman will be released on November 21, which will include four bonus tracks that were taken from the original studio recordings. The previously unreleased song Forever, written by Jerry Williams, and its music video have already been released.
The updated version of Journeyman features evergreen hits like Pretending, Bad Love and Running on Faith, and features contributions from George Harrison, Phil Collins, Chaka Khan, Daryl Hall, Robert Cray and many more.
Eric Clapton's latest album, Meanwhile, was released last October. The 14-song album features six previously unheard tracks and features artists including Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Bradley Walker, Judith Hill, Daniel Santiago and Simon Climie.
The European dates announced on Monday are a continuation of this year's successful US tour, which included sold-out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Eric Clapton: a permanent icon in the world of music
One of the most influential musicians in the history of rock music, Eric Clapton, now 80, began his career in 1963 with the Yardbirds. In the sixties, he became world famous in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, and then Derek and The Dominos. He began his solo career in 1970, which had both fantastic highs and lows.
He is the only musician to have been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame three times (in order as a member of the Yardbirds, Cream, and finally solo), has received 18 Grammys, and is only surpassed by his former good friend Jimi Hendrix on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the greatest guitarists of all time. Although he changed styles several times during his career, his music preserved the traditions of the blues, but the most memorable are those of his studio and concert albums on which he followed in the footsteps of his black blues masters.
