Budapest's newest hotel, the BasiliQ Hotel, has opened in a wonderful location, a few steps from St. Stephen's Basilica, where past and present, historical values and all the comforts of the modern age are beautifully intertwined.
The reconstruction of a listed building gave birth to a new, four-star boutique hotel in the city center of Budapest, in the immediate vicinity of St. Stephen's Basilica, which was named the elegant BasiliQ Hotel due to its unique location.
The official opening ceremony of one of the capital's newest, four-star boutique hotels took place on April 23, 2026. The guests were able to experience the intertwining of the past and present in a real time journey through history and music. Then, during an unusual house tour, they were able to experience the unique concept of the BasiliQ Hotel, which is built on the respect of historical values and the modern guest experience. Here, guests can feel like a true city citizen and experience the rhythm of the city.
Two buildings, one iconic hotel
The special feature of the property at 10-12 Sas utca is that it connects two buildings built in different eras and styles, which are under historical and monument protection, into a single hotel, while the unique character and architectural heritage of both buildings have been preserved even after the renovation.
Two buildings of different ages and styles occupy a total of 1,230 square meters of floor space, but are only connected on the ground floor. The three- and four-story blocks contain a total of 75 rooms and suites. Due to the characteristics of the buildings, each room is different, and several room types are available, the most special being the suites overlooking the Basilica.
The defining element of the building complex, the elegant atrium, has also been renovated and has become one of the characteristic centers of the community spaces.
The hotel also features a bar, where the architectural heritage of the past meets contemporary style in perfect harmony. Its name is inspired by the arch of the Basilica, and its unique atmosphere makes the APSIS Bar one of the outstanding meeting places in the vibrant life of Budapest. It offers modern flavors, with a timeless view of the Basilica.
