Michelin has revealed its 2026 hotel selection, and Budapest has plenty to celebrate: 10 hotels in the city have earned Michelin Keys, with two receiving the prestigious Two-Key award.

Twelve hotels in Hungary have been included in the 2026 MICHELIN Key selection, the hotel distinction created by the MICHELIN Guide to recognize outstanding places to stay. Ten of the 12 are in Budapest, while the other two are in Balatonfüred and Tata.

Two Budapest hotels received Two MICHELIN Keys:

  • Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest and
  • Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel.

Eight other Budapest hotels received One MICHELIN Key:

  • Anantara New York Palace Budapest,
  • Dorothea Hotel,
  • Hotel Clark Budapest,
  • Kimpton BEM Budapest,
  • Kozmo Hotel Suites & Spa,
  • Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest,
  • Verno House and
  •  W Budapest.

Outside the capital, Hotel Petit Bois in Balatonfüred and **Platán Manor in Tata were awarded One MICHELIN Key each.

The MICHELIN Key is the hotel equivalent of the MICHELIN Star for restaurants. Inspectors assess hotels according to criteria including architecture and interior design, the quality and consistency of service, the property's personality and character, value for money, and its contribution to its surroundings. Hotels are visited anonymously by MICHELIN Guide inspectors.

No Hungarian hotel received the maximum Three MICHELIN Keys in the 2026 selection. The two Budapest properties with Two Keys therefore represent the highest distinction awarded in Hungary this year.

The 2026 selection is the second time the MICHELIN Guide has awarded Keys to Hungarian hotels. All 12 Hungarian properties were already included in last year's selection.

Globally, the 2026 MICHELIN Guide hotel selection now covers more than 9,400 hotels, of which 2,832 have received at least one MICHELIN Key. This year's announcement added 470 new Key hotels across 79 destinations. The global selection includes 155 Three-Key, 657 Two-Key and 2,020 One-Key hotels.
