The Budapest History Museum has several institutions: the Kiscell Museum, the Metropolitan Art Gallery, the Aquincum Museum, the Budapest Gallery and the Castle Museum.
Where is the Castle Museum?
The Castle Museum is located in the southernmost part of the Palace of Buda Castle, in Building E. The main entrance is from the Lion Courtyard, but the museum is also accessible from the Danube bank, from the Castle Garden Bazaar.
Ticket offices are located at the main entrance in the Lion Courtyard, at the entrance to the King’s Cellar from the Eastern Castle Wall and from the Castle Garden Bazaar.
Getting there
1. Main Entrance – From the Lion’s Courtyard
Access from the Dísz Square
The entrance from the Lion’s Courtyard is accessible on foot from the Dísz Square, from bus stops 16 and 16A.
Car parking is available on the square, but parking spaces are limited.
2. Királypince entrance – From the direction of Várkert Bazaar
The entrance to the King’s Cellar is from the side of the castle wall, which is accessible by the open-air escalator and lift (up to the 1st floor) on the right side of the Castle Garden Bazaar, or by foot on the stairs.
