Budapest Ranks Among Best Destinations for Solo Female Travellers
New study ranks Budapest as one of the top 10 places for solo female travellers.
One of the most unique events in the Hungarian winter program is returning in February. The Indoor Beer Festival is being held for the ninth time, and this year it will move to the ballrooms of the New York Palace Hotel. The event awaits visitors on February 6 and 7. At the festival, nearly 100 types of draft beer can be tasted unlimitedly in 1-2 dl portions. According to the organizers, the essence of the festival continues to be the tasting experience, and the entrance ticket provides unlimited tasting over the two days. The event has visited several iconic Budapest locations in recent years, previously the Várkert Bazár, the Marriott, the Intercontinental and the Gellért hotels hosted the meetings, and this year the New York Palace has been added to the illustrious list.
“Beer is much more than a grain-based, fermented beverage, produced using malted barley (or other grains), water, hops and brewer’s yeast. The character of beer is determined by the raw materials, brewing technology, hopping method and type of fermentation, which has now become a social and cultural phenomenon. Beer drinking has always created a community, from medieval monasteries to city pubs. This festival brings this community experience to the cold days of Budapest, even when the temperatures are below zero. We also thought of craft beer fans, with selected flavors from Hungarian, Czech, German, English and Belgian breweries lined up over the weekend. In addition to the special drinks, we welcome those interested with delicious dishes to match them,” said László Kóczián, the festival’s main organizer.
The festival features beer-gastronomic pairings, a thematic offer and a special sense of fun. The program is typically attended by domestic audiences as well as foreign visitors.
“Beer consumption here is not about quantity, but about discovering flavors. Unlimited tasting gives you the opportunity to taste and compare different beers side by side... this is the basic experience of 21st century beer culture. The Indoor Beer Festival is a gap-filling event, where you can learn about, chat and discover new relationships in a pleasant, exclusive and comfortable environment. This is how beer becomes a social and cultural experience.” - said Csaba Katona, historian.
