The first mall of Budapest was opened in the mid 1990-s in Northern Pest. Since then, at least one of these monstrosities were opened per year, and the city’s commerce hasn’t taken the changes very well. Smaller merchants, whose shops were located withing a few kilometres’ radius of the new palaces of consumption, have predictably went bankrupt or have seen their shoppers change their ways.
Nevertheless, Budapesters did manage to get used to, and even like malls, due to their central location and the convenience of everything in the same place. Everyone has their „personal” favourite mall, and they are popular meeting places.

ÁRKÁD Shopping Centre is located at one of the busiest and bustling intersections of Budapest. It is accessible by using various public transportation routes. ÁRKÁD is located at the final stop of several public transportation lines too, among others the Csömör and Gödöllő suburban train lines (HÉV), which provide easy access to this municipal intersection also for the Eastern Pest agglomeration. If you are coming from downtown just take No. 2 Metro line and in 15 minutes by getting off at the final stop you have arrived to the main entrance of our shopping centre, located just opposite the metro final stop. Even if you are taking a stroll at Andrássy Street or visiting Heroes Square or the City Park you can easily access us by using the Yellow Underground Line to Mexikói Street final stop and transferring to tram line No. 3, which will drop you off just in front of our main entrance. |
