Originally built for Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) a Russian language library was opened in 1956 under the name of “Gorkij State Library”, which later started to collect other foreign language pieces beside Russian, too.
Today, the library is the most important collection of foreign books in Hungary, housing a scientific research facility as well.
