Day 1Early departure from Budapest. First stop will be Gödöllő, favorite summer retreat of the Hapsburg family. Inside visit of the Baroque palace Grassalkovich. Drive through picturesque Mátra Mountains to Eger, famous for its wines and legendary resistance to the invading Turks and Habsburgs. Walking tour of the city. Dinner and overnight in Lillafüred.
Day 2After breakfast drive among the castle-spotted hills of Zemplén. Visit Vizsoly and its tiny church and see the first Bible translated into Hungarian language. Short visit to the castle of Füzér, Füzerradvány and on top of all Sárospatak with its wonderful loggia, library and the Sub Rosa hall. Afternoon arrival to Tokaj, one of the major wine regions of Hungary, the home of ASZU, the ’ Vinum regum, Rex vinorum’ (king of the wine, wine of the kings).Taste the local specialties in a friendly wine cellar. Dinner and overnight in Tarcal.
Day 3After early morning departure, drive to Kecskemét, birthplace of the famous composer Zoltan Kodaly and home of the esteemed music center named after him. Walking tour of the city. Kodály Institute, Calvinist Church, Old Church, Cifra Palace, Town Hall. Continue by crossing Danube to Simontornya. Enjoy the wonderful spa facilities of your hotel.

Day 4Drive to Lake Balaton and take the ferry to Tihany with its Abbey church founded in 1055. Continue to Balatonfüred, the capital of Balaton. After a short walk in the center of Tihany continue to Budapest. Drop off at your selected hotel.
