Northern Hungary
Northern Hungary is especially rich in cultural heritage and beautiful landscape. There are 8 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Hungary, 3 of which are in this region: the caves of Aggtelek Karst, the Tokaj Wine Region and the Old Village of Hollókő.
The Aggtelek Karst has vast stalactite caverns, built up during millions of years. The Tokaj Wine Region is where the world-famous Tokaji Aszú wine is being produced. The Old Village of Hollókő is the only Hungarian village on the World Heritage list, with two protected streets, a total of 55 houses, and the ruins of a castle.
