Public Holidays in Hungary
Besides the regular, international state and religious holidays such as New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, Easter, Labor Day, Whit Monday, All Saints' Day and Christmas, every country has its own national holidays which bear significance for the nation only. Hungary has three national holidays: one commemorating the outbreak of the revolution against Habsburg rule in 1848 (March 15), the day of the state founder (August 20) and the anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 against Soviet tyranny (October 23).
