gothic

Budapest's Gothic architecture was significant as early as the 14th and 15th centuries: Buda had one of the most beautiful Baroque castles in Europe.

The palace was, unfortunately, totally destroyed in 1686 when the unified Christian army has liberated Buda from under Turkish rule.

Nowadays, there is just one Gothic building in the Castle District, and it's a residential building. The Gothic tower of the Matthias Church was built in the 19th century.

The Parliament building in Budapest was built in the 19th century. It is a wonderful example of Gothic Revival and other styles.
