classicist
The first part of Budapest's 19th century architecture was dominated by Classicism. Classicist architecture follows set examples, traditions and events laid down in antique Greek and Roman art.
Many famous and important public buildings in Budapest, such as the National Museum and the Budapest City Hall were constructed in this style.
There are many Classicist residential blocks in the city, mainly along the boulevards. Classicist apartment houses have palace-like interiors and clean, straight shapes.
